  • HELP! battery disconnect POP!

I have a customer bass that has the fishman Power chip Preamp and regular passive pickups. Problem is the fishman for the piezo has low battery life (it the way they are). So , I tried to make a bypass switch for the battery when the magnetics are on and switch the battery off. ( to save battery life) BUT it POPS way too bad when selecting the piezo back on. Any ideas? where to put a cap or a pull down resistor?

If you are switching he full power on/off instead of some audio signal, the pop is practically inevitable.

What about using a pot with a rotary switch with built in. It could possibly be wired to turn the piezo signal off on the way to turning the power off. I'm not sure if a pot like this would work for you or where you would get one. There is an Artec amp kit that CB Gitty sells which uses this setup which I have built into cigar box guitars.

When was the last time you did something for the first time?
