Dynacord DRP 16 Digital Reverb

Hi,

I've an old Dynacord DRP 16. It works, but I think that it's time of some maintenance.

Do you replace the electrolytic caps? at least for the power supply caps?

And somebody can tell me what they are this trimmers?

Your staring point would be to get a service manual. That should tell you what the trimmers do.

Okey, on the service manual says:

8.- Adjustment of level display:

Set nominal input signal ( 200 Hz ), adjust R135 so that the 0 dB led just starts to light up.

R135 is the trimmer near input.

So, anybody can explain how to adjust this? and the level pot? max or min? 200 Hz with signal generator?

How is the procedure?

Not to be an ass but if the unit works, I would suggest that you button it back up.
As to the level display: 200 Hz signal is specified but at what input voltage level.

Seems that 0 on meters would correspond to 390mVAC input signal (switch set to inst. level) or 1.23VAC input (with switch set to line level).

With all due respect I do not understand why users constantly mention maintenance, replacement (electrolytic) capacitors, adjusts trimmers if the equipment is working properly and not show a symptom of failure.

Digital processors are mostly complex equipment, which in the context of some serious maintenance implies technical knowledge and specialized experience.
Any intervention in terms of calibration in user or DIY conditions is not recommended, because the user does not have knowledge, technical experience and the required measuring equipment.

I speak for myself. Although I have 40 years of engineering experience, I know very well what I don't know, and I don't accept job which do not know.

The old technical rule says, if something works properly don't touch anything in it while it is working properly.
Before any intervention, you must have the DRP16 service manual in front of you in order to perform the complete Test Programs procedure.
For an example of the DRP15 "Test Programs" from page 62, learn what the Test Programs procedure involves.

If DRP16 is unreliable or defective, the safest and cheapest way is to find an authorized service center, because the service of that profile in addition to qualified personnel, also has appropriate spare components, which in normal sales are generally not available.

Yes, I bought the service manual for the DRP-16

I know that I have to send 200Hz signal to the input of DRP-16.

But I don't understand the following:

1.- The input potentiometer ( DRP-16 ), it need to put at min or max?
2.- Signal generator. 200 Hz. But how many volts?

The service manual only says this:

Since I don't have a DRP16 service manual, I will try to explain on the example of DRP15.
Find an analogy between the DRP15 and DRP16 terms or upload the DRP16 service manual.

It is assumed that all voltages on the analog part are within the predicted limits.

- Put all controls in position as it says on Argeements (DRP15 page 56)
- Connect the APS One generator to the INSTR input DRP15 and adjust input voltage on 390mV.
- Connect the PM2517X to the LO output DRP15 and measure the output voltage ~ 730mV.
And that's it.

Dave, I think it's going to be really hard to help without seeing the manual. Without that we have no understanding of what is going on.
