  • Victory V30 "The Duchess" lunchbox amp

My friend Felix talked to his friend N. Schon about the Victory amps he was playing at Bananas in San Rafael today and Neil was really impressed with the $1299 30W pcb head (clever way to name drop while avoiding Google searches, eh? )

V30 The Countess - Victory Amplifiers

I doubt that a full schematic for this amp is available but I was wondering about the power output switching... theories if not facts. Thanks!

Dirty Channel Low Power Single Ended: 0.5 Watts

P.S. I am really impressed that the Clean channel puts out more watts (42W) that the OD channel (37W). Usually the Clean is much weaker than the OD channel.

More guesswork than theories and definitely no facts (and probably totally wrong)

Clean Channel High power is standard pentode mode.
Clean Channel Low power is triode mode.
Clean Channel High power SE is triode with only one 6L6 driven.
Clean Channel Low power SE as high power SE but with an attenuator on the output.

Dirty Channel same as above but the distortion is mostly from the pre-amp which is why the Dirty Channel is lower power.

Just for clarity: The thread title says we're talking about the "Duchess" amp and the pictures in post #1 are of a "Countess amp". They are 2 different amps. Which one are you asking about? And, BTW, this is a 5 year old thread.
