  • Valco 8418 or Silvertone 1340

Wouldn't you know it, EL34 World seems to have schematics for every Valco (and Silvertone) amp ever made, EXCEPT for the one I need. Taking a shot in the dark here, if anyone can point me to the schematic for a Valco 8418 I would be tickled pink. Silvertone 1340 may be the exact same amp, based on outward appearance at least. Thanks!

    Try this: valco_gretsch6150.pdf

I believe the Silvertone 1340 takes an 4 ohm speaker.

Close, but no cigar. The tube complement for the 8418 is 5Y3GT, 6V6GT, and 6SJ7 and it has 2 input jacks.

The schematic that you want is not available, as far as I can tell.

Heck, even the LP jr should be close enough that you can suss out the basic schematic.

Yeah, looks pretty close. Ideally I'd have the proper schematic just to be able to confirm the original specs. Granted, if it's not available it's not the end of the world. Thanks.

Again, close but not quite. For example the amp in question has 22K grid stoppers and a 100K grid leak resistor.

How about making the changes to that print, scan it to a pdf & upload it as a Valco 8418 or Silvertone 1340?

THEN there will be a schematic on the net.

There is a Harmony 8418 with that tube compliment.
Schematic can be had at radiomuseum.org (sign-up required).

I guess they're not going to gripe about anyone sharing their 'exclusive' copy of a Sam's schematic.

Funny, I already had that same schematic, downloaded as silvertone_1301.pdf. At first glance it didn't look like the same circuit, again using the example of the grid resistors. I'll check it out and see how closely it lines up.

After a little more digging it turns out, as far I can tell anyway, that the amp is in fact a Harmony 8418. But the specs on the components don't line up with the schematic. Weird.
