  • Searching for a Super Bassman (PR 1160) power transformer

The transformer I've got has an open thermal fuse, and as my luck it's properly buried deep in the windings so repairing it is out of the question.

Fender only sells jellybean parts like jacks and pots, nothing like a PT. Neither Hammond nor Mercury seem to offer replacements. Unsurprisingly, the manufacturer (Schumacher) doesn't sell OEM products to end-users.

It's possible that the transformer for the older Bassman 300 PRO might be compatible though with different terminations (newer transformer uses multi-pin AMP connectors instead of quick-disconnect terminals) but I can't find one of those either.

Markings on the transformer bell are:

    A-0091013000
    93032453 211
    EIA606MS1610SB4

I think you must mean their accessories for consumers. You need to check with an authorized Fender service center.

      Have you looked here https://shop.amppartsdirect.com/prod...de-of-40-18073

No idea where you are in the world but there are plenty of suppliers; Hammond 290DX etc.
Support for Fender, Laney, Marshall, Mesa, VOX and many more. https://jonsnell.co.uk
If you can't fix it, I probably can.

I tried to find a schematic for your designator but came up with nothing. No way to know your options without a schematic. The "Super Bassman" schematics available on line are for more rudimetary amps than yours. Do you need an LV supply for that amp??? If I were you I'd keep digging for that fuse.

I would contact Heyboer, which isn't that far from Toronto, and see if they might be able to unwind it and fix the fuse. They are way cheaper than Mercury for new transformers, they also like to tear down transformers so they can do their own version.

The PR1160 is model # 2249000000. It is the current unit being sold by Fender.

Looks like they have a two year warranty, wonder if the amp owner checked to see if it was outside of that? If it is under warranty it would have to go to an authorized shop, and Fender sometimes kinda sucks on supplying parts for warranty repair.

That's for a much smaller (40 or 50W) Bassman. The 300W Super Bassman is a beast!

Not entirely sure how long the customer has had the amp but the asset tag implies at least 3 years, oh well.

Thanks, I've dropped them a line.
