Bottom line: these are TOOLS, not TOYS. And a "deafening" 60W is EASILY matched by even a "reasonable" drummer. Which, by the way, they're the next group of "deaf old rock stars." They keep locking them up in sealed pickle jars and want them to plat with the same ferocity... if you think a 60W guitar amp is "deafening," try a full drum kit in a, oh, 7'x7'x6' plexiglass sealed cage.
Look, I don.t play at 100 dB all the time as some may be lead to believe, but there's a time and a place for it, if you want to keep it real. Otherwise, go back to your wussy earbuds and listen to your 250mW through your 3mm "speakers" and leave me alone. Stop wasting my time with your "oh, it's too loud... think of the CHILDREN!"
And another thing: two questions to ask EVERY "sound guy" who complains: "do I sound like shit?" & "who am I drowning out?" If the answers are no and nobody, then tell them to shut the hell up and let the MUSICIANS do their JOB using THEIR tools.
Sorry. I'm getting bitter.
