I don't think its optical those are stainless steel slugs, the fatter core is on purpose, I spotted that the first time I saw that thing. There is way more clearance away from the slugs than conventional buckers.

If you really want to nitpick, it's actually the screw coil that looks a bit fatter in that picture.

The person who wrote the copy on that page doesn't know a damn thing about much of anything, and certainly not guitars.

There is no silver in nickel silver, and it's not 80% nickel. It's generaly 60% Copper/ 20% Nickel/ 20% Zinc.

First I corrected for the perpective distortion, then you see the two coils super imposed on top of each other. Looks like the screw coil is fatter.

Yeh you're right the coil formers are the same size, the screw heads are are the same diameter as the slugs. Winds are equal. The black tape on the upper bobbin is optically making it look different. Anyway, its one pickup I won't be buying to back engineer :-) I thought it was kind of a mistake the writer posted what alloys are used, I wonder if Gibson even read it :-) Still, its an intelligent design, there is a reason there is so much space between the coils and the poles....

Yes, when I had them overlapping, the screw head was larger.
