    • Thank you Mr. Schwab! Those psych-ay-delic geetars made my day! Never seen the like. Now must see in person... Mid 70's I remember Gibson was issuing some pickups with transparent plastic parts. What's the background on those axes? Fascinating...

They are new! Look up "Zoot Suit" SG or Les Pauls.

        Gibson.com: Gibson SG Zoot Suit

        Gibson.com: Les Paul Zoot Suit

Dang, thought I'd missed something 'back in the day.' Those things look like a cross between a guitar and Fruity Pebbles. Somebody at Gibson must'a been cleaning out the old freezer & found a stash of Owsley's finest. Ram-a-lam-a-ding-dong! Next time the Feds invade, wave a few of those wacky axes at 'em. If that don't scare 'em away I don't know what will.

Any big rock stars seen playing one yet?

          • They are looking for a way to sell plywood guitars! And I actually saw a write up on an environmental site that gave kudos to the design because it's not a painted finish?!? Like the neon goop they impregnate that crap wood with isn't toxic. And I have to assume there's a coat of something on the wood, even if it doesn't have pigment in it!!! Hello!!! It's the solvents, not the pigments that are the problem tree huggers! Probably a response to a Gibson campaign that touts the use of recycled wood or something. That impregnated plywood crap is the same stuff they use to make cheap trinkets. I've seen it used in cheap pool cues too. Some people must think it looks "fancy" because it sells. Bottom line... Plywood guitar. Wait, no, UGLY plywood guitar.

The current Gibson is either all about classic designs they had no hand in designing, or terrible abominations.

Just look at some of their "new" designs, or variations on old designs. Surely some of these must have started as a joke?

We wont even bring up its cousin, the Corvus, since that was from the former Gibson.

                • I just threw up a little in my mouth. What the hell are they thinking? Who approves this stuff? Does anyone who works for Gibson even pay attention to trends and the quality of their competition? They would do better to eat the dead corpses of former glory day employees and try to shit money.

C'mon Chuck, Gibson can sell their sawdust to Kelloggs to make Froot Loops. Hey kids, ya hungry? Time for breakfast!

                        • And I would like to thank the designers of these guitars for giving me hope...

by making instruments that look so hilariously crappy that they make my own puny efforts at luthierie look good.

                          • LOL! I used to wonder why musicians seemed so conservative and preferred old Les Pauls and Strats. Wonder no more.

In the light of these other designs, I think the BFG might be one of their better ones.

                            • i like to think gibson is doing us all a favour by pushing people into the direction of smaller / better guitar manufacturers although there will still be gibson / fender purists out there not realising what they could actually buy for the same money. Out of all of those posted by david i think the swiss cheese and zv are the better ones but the zv could only be pulled off by zakk, his coffin epiphone on the otherhand
