Well to be fair, Sam Lee Guy has lifted the spirits around here lately. I don't think anyone was bashing the Chinese either. It's just a bit of fun and I for one am enjoying it.

      Well said guys.
Nobody bashing anyone its just the way english speaking nations are. We have a disaster and bow our heads, then we make jokes to get over it. And we do take the pee out of other people, but we hope and sometimes they do take the pee back. Iv'e got a Chinese lady that cooks for me and speaks perfect english but enjoys asking if I fancy spare libs, and a coloured good friend thats always asking me not to wop him massa. Then he gives me a hug. If we could all live like that then the world would be a much nicer place.
And Sam. Why you no ristten cookie boy, he not chinese crown he an aclobat.

Everybody could use a good laugh these days. What with rising oil prices, trouble brewing in the Middle East, hard to find quality pickup parts, etc..... I would certainly be the last to bash the Chinese. I have Malay, Spanish and a little Chinese blood in me. My son looks Chinese, with chinky eyes and light skin. And even our own national hero, Jose Rizal, is part Chinese!

Wasn't Jose Rizal made the national hero because he invented the jeepney?

Colored? You never hear that any more in the US. The most widly used term is "black" now, but my wife prefers "African American" (yes, she's colored )

I think "brown" sounds much nicer!

And yet, the phrase "people of colo(u)r" was en vogue for a brief time not too long ago.

I've always felt that race is a bit of a false construct, anyways. The world is really made of only 3 different types of people - nonguitarists, single coil advocates, and humbucker fanatics.

Gotta admit Brown does sound nicer than Black or coloured but I've never understood being called white when I am really pink. Got a good friend recently married a Chinese Malasian girl, She's got some English in her now as well. Evolution and mixing going as it is, then not long on the scale of things there will be one universal colour and that may help the world get on.

Yeah, my wife used to say that a lot too. She still does sometimes. I think it;s just that colored has bad connotations from the past.

Sorry but Jose Rizal was born before the time of the jeepney (June 19, 1861 to be exact). He was an artist, a surveyor, a civil engineer,a physician, a writer, a womanizer, a linguist and an activist, among others. He was also adept with the pistol and the fencing foil. He might have been a pickup winder if he lived during the time when the electric guitar was invented.

Rizal was well traveled during his time. After finishing his studies in then Philippines, he studied in Madrid, Spain. There is even a place in Hamburg, Germany named after him.

His novels that depicted Spain's cruel occupation of the Philippines led to his death by firing squad. It was the Americans BTW who declared him our country's national hero.
