  • I wonder why mojo shows these out of stock, if they laser cut them on site?
Mojotone Hum Cancelling Jazz Bass Bridge Flatwork Top and Bottom Set (for .187'' dia. magnets)
I guess maybe they don't have the Laser programmed yet?

Today it was Axial Electrolytics. I have been loading different kinds all week. I can't expect to sell them if I don't have them on the website.

        You been staying busy today?
No work on guitars, but I did play it some.
My amp in the shop was making a terrible racket yesterday.
I guess just the tubes not making good.
A hot and Cold Shop is not a good envirnment for a tube Amp.

** I played my LP with Buckers.
I forgot how good they sound.
I've been messing with the SCs too much lately.
        Buckers are the Fav, Here!
Yes very busy - probably taking a chance on getting carpal tunnel syndrome from being on the computer all day.

I need to work on one of my amps too, the reverb has no effect. Tried changing out the tank but it is something else. Maybe a op amp. Not ready to tackle that this week.

I did have an idea today that I am going to try. I ordered up a couple of the Arion Stereo Chorus SCH-Z pedals. The older SCH-1 is getting popular but the problem is they aren't rugged. I had the idea to take them apart, then see if I can put them in a Mojo pedal housing and ruggedize them some, with a 3PDTswitch. Don't know what I will get into with that project though. But I ordered a couple of the pedals and housings.

Only one guitar in the shop and it is done just not picked up yet. I thought the customer might come in today but he didn't call.

            Don't bad wire Suck?
One of the 2 rolls of 42 SPN I got from Remington, had issues, and now it has 3 ends sticking up.
I think it will enventually come clear.
SonnyW had a bad roll recently also.
So seems to be lots of issues going around.

Have you tried flipping the wire spool over?
                Sometimes that helps.

Pretty quiet on the round table lately. I contacted Remington about my 10 lb spool of 42 SPN that I couldn't use because halfway through on the first pickup it broke the wire under the top layers on the spool. After several attempts at getting a free end I had a half dozen or more broken ends at the same spot. I sent them a photo and explanation and they said that was probably caused by the spool not being wound tight enough and it is called cascading. They said they would replace the roll if I sent it back so I shipped it back last week. It got there today and I will wait for their response. Never had that happen before, but they were nice enough about it.

Other than that, today I have been working on building a tumbler for rod magnets. I got some ceramic triangle deburring media and a surplus 24v gearmotor to power the drum. Still putting it all together, but the idea is to avoid having to hand bevel the ends of the magnets for some pickups. I think Fender did this at one time.

                  • I tested a new A2 Loaded Strat Pick Guard, last night.
They sound really good with a Maple Neck Strat.
The A5s were a bit harsh for this particular Maple Neck Strat.
The A2 Magnets are gaussed to around 650.

                    • Any of you guys make any Strat Coils with A2s and A5s together.
I am thinking of making a neck and middle with A5s on the E, & A, and A2 on the rest.
I have a A2 Set, and I like the 4 High strings fine.
I think the two big Strings would benefit from the A5s?
I'm going to put a white Blade in the bridge position.

                          Did you like them?
I figured that was how most did it.
                          I may try the 4 & 2 or maybe the 3 & 3.
I'm going to use the white bobbins in the bridge P/U.
I think they will hold up fine.
I sold all my blade stuff I had made up, need to do more.

I have done some of the 3 and 3 E,A,D with A5 but got kind of lackluster response on them. I only did a couple of them. I think the customers like all A2 or all A5 better. It was a small sample and I thought they sounded good, but what do they know anyhow, the ones that tried them. Just my 2 cents on it.

Yes, I was wondering how they would sound together.
I figured they would have different tonal qualities.

FWIW, in my experience, the 5/2 combo serves only in the bridge p'up, and that's to tame the inherent brightness (shrilness?) of the slanted positioning of the bridge p'up.

I have a strat set custom made for me by Zhangliqun, aka David Plummer. It's got three different polepiece spreads (49mm, 50mm and 53mm), it's based on his "Refin" set specs, and the bridge p'up is 5/2.

It has a permanent home in my PRS SE EG, and I can't say enough how wonderful this p'up set sounds in this guitar.
