  • Need info on Kalamazoo KG-2 Pickups

Help me!! Does anyone know any details on these pickups? Resistance, dimensions, number of winds?

Those look similar to the Melody Maker pickups - a bar magnet in a bobbin.

Those look like a good example:

Here's an old discussion about those:

I actually make a lot of those in a Strat format. They are useful on instruments with an odd number of strings and / or non-standard string arrangements, because they don't rely on individual pole pieces. My favorites use C8 bar magnets and about 8k turns of 44 AWG, with a steel plate (0.08" thick) at the bottom, but those are not the vintage specs. .

    Best of luck

Thanks so much for the info ya'll! As far as the measurements go, I'm fine on that now. Mainly need to know the number of winds around the bobbin!

Well, I guess the hardest part here is to find the appropriate bobbin, or to make your own. I don't think I have seen any ready-made ones that can accommodate a full-length PAF magnet.
Once you've settled on something, or if this is a repair, and you have the actual bobbin & magnet, use the coil estimator ( http://www.jdguitarworks.com/coil/coil.html ) to see how many turns of 42 AWG you need to reach the 7kOhm mark.

THANK YOU SO MUCH. Also last thing would probably be some advice on making the live and ground wire connections. As with these pickups, there are no brass lugs to do this onto.
