  • Any info on Nano Series EHX Small Stone

A friend asked if I could mod his Neno Small Stone to produce the different exotic effects I can get on my Small Stone clone. Or rather, I said "If you like what mine can do, let me poke around inside yours and see if I can get it to do the same things".

Well, the problem is, the Nano series uses LM13700s, and surface mount components. That, in itself, is not THAT big a deal. The problem is, the only schematic I have for a dual-13700 circuit is from the early 80's, and it uses a quad LM324, while the Nano series uses two TLC2272 dual op-amps. and also changes the values of a a number of resistors, so pinpointing comparable parts of the circuit is difficult, if not impossible, o do.

I was hoping to be able to install a switch for producing vibrato, but I'll be damned if I can find the mixing node. All I've been able to find is this mod: EHX Nano Small Stone Mods - Distorque Audio although he also notes being stymied by the things I mentioned.

So, if you have a schematic, or simply know where the dry+wet mixing node is on the board, I'd be much obliged.

The only tidbit that I found on the Nano mixer section:
"The normal fixes for it wouldn't work anyway, because the boost and mixer sections have been replaced by opamp sections".

The schematic for the dual-13700 version from the 80's shows an op-amp mixer section, rather than the traditional passive mixing of the CA3094 versions, so I'm okay there. I just can't find the damn thing!

Possibly. Can't access it from work. I was given a link before with a big archive of EHX factory schems, including a number of their more recent (though pre-2010) pedals, and it did not include the Nano SS. I'll just have to wait and see if this is the same archive or a more recent one.

Thanks, either way, though. I appreciate your effort.

Thanks. As suspected, it is the same one I had already snagged a few months back, and has the 5 x CA3094 circuit.

Appreciated, but I'm not much further ahead. The content of the first link is actually the same as that of the third link.

Uncle Boko is actually Stephen Giles, who sent me the earlier 13600-based schem you show. So, not any closer.

I think what I need to do is re-register at the EHX Forums and ask the folks there.
