No AC187

AC187/188 is germanium transistors.
865075-2 or Q4 (transistor "G") is silicon transistor.

Power Amp Driver Circuit - The driver circuit included two transistors and a driver transformer. The power amp driver transistor (Q4) was designed to increase the gain in the preamplifier audio signal. The factory replacement part number for this transistor was 86-5075-2, but Thomas often refered to this transistor simply as "G." It was housed in a TO-3 style "top hat" case. As this part is susceptible to heat related failure, Thomas added cooling fins to the transistor (see circuit board photo at top of page). The industry standard equivalent part number for this silicon transistor is 2N2219.

Sorry but I am really confused here....there is a transistor AC187 in the V124 model......it is listed as a germanium transistor.....and it is marked as a AC187 on the side of the transistor.....are you telling me that it does not have this transistor?? because it is definately in there....can you clarify that for me please....I don't mean to be a PITA.....I just want to make sure before I do anything.....Thank you very much for the links......

The picture shows that Q4 cannot be AC187
The AC187 was installed by some quasi-forum expert

Any chance you can trace out the schematic for posterity please? It would also help giving advise on substitutions.

Please label transistors with "factory code" and possible replacement.

That TO5 Driver transistor can be replaced by an easy to find TIP29 or TIP31,or some NPN TO39 case with a minimal heatsink, a thumbnail size piece of aluminum, but make certain it reaches the PCB surface and glue it there.
Drop of contact-neoprene cement/silicone/even hot glue but thisthe is the least reliable because bumps can separate it from non porous PCB surface, a*little* elasticity is better.

The AC187 was certainly some forumhead idea.

Finally getting back here to do an update....I apologize for the delay but unfortunately shit happens that has to be dealt with.....anyway, I ordered some TIP31's as J.M.Fahey had suggested....it worked out great.......I will give it another test next week and then get the owner to come and pick it up....Thanks to everybody for all their help......
