General Resources

Hey, I 'm new here, thought I'd start a new thread for general resources found and wanted - I've done this on a few other forums, and it works out to be somewhat advantageous for those of us who have few resources, but need stuff - information, equipment, software, websites, etc. So my first post is kind of a question. Someone directed me to a studio software that is relatively inexpensive as far as studio software goes, and it offers a free trial
www.magix.com - Samplitude Studios software. Its not even 100 bucks, but I am wondering how good the quality is. If anyone has any info on the site, I'd appreciate it.
For those looking to move up, have their music reviewed, or are actively searching for contacts, two websites I found that have been decent are
www.alliedartists.net and also www.cent.com/abetting. Both of these websites will accept albums/demos for review, have lists of contacts, resources and a whole bunch of stuff for solo artists and bands that are managing themselves and are aspiring signed artists or touring musicians. Last but not least, and Im sure many of you have heard of this site, is the American Federation of Musicians at www.afm.org. Now, the downside with this site is that the only way to access the plethora of resources and advantages they provide to professional musicians is by joining - last time I checked, membership was close to $200, and I dont remember if that was yearly or for life...either way, its a steep membership fee, but I am betting it is worth it. I have heard nothing but praise and accolades about this organization, from several fellow musicians who belong to it. Anyway, that's all for now.
Peace,
Selah
