| Ampeg SVT4 Pro failure
Got a pretty new ampeg svt4pro here. peak led always on, even if theres no bass plugged, producing almost no volume, but does produce hiss. Mute switch doesnt mute the (low volume) bass signal. Anyone had this before? I know its pretty weird  |

I couldn't find a schematic but your symptoms suggest a blown input stage. Is there a tuner output and/or an Effects loop? Do these things work?

First thing I'd check is the v rails to the op amps/ss stuff in the front end. Sounds like either a missing rail or a shorted op amp.

Thx allready for the reactions. The thing is, theres still waranty on it, ordered it in Germany (I live in Belgium) from one of the biggest music stores in europe. I waited like 3 weeks to get it delivered, and on arival (today) it didnt work. I posted here in the hope it could be a little problem like maybe a connector that came loose or something. Havent opened it yet. But if noone comes up with "hey i had that problem 2, just this connector was loose, or something..." then i wont open it up and just send it back, and wait more then i month till i get a new one. Again , thx for the thinking guys. |
