    Forum hangups.

For the last few days anyway, I try to write in a reply box, and it keeps hanging up, my cursor disappears. I click on the box to get my cursor back, it lets me type a letter or two and goes away again.

What I found was the banner ads top and bottom of the pages were doing it. The banner is a black swatch with a little arrowhead shaped sideways V thing that says Ads by (??) And it has the spinning ball of death. If I see that at the top, I can click its X and kill it, and now I can type normally... unless the bottom banner is also one of them.

Whatever the banner is, it doesn't seem to load in very quickly, and it hangs up the page.

it wasn't just typing in a reply box. If I change pages or select a forum from the main menu, it might sit there processing for ages. Sure enough, the black banner. CLick the X and back to normal.

Theree are other banner ads, but these black ones are in the rotation a LOT. I am now snake-bit, so every page I open, I quick check top and bottom to X out any offending banners.

I let one time out, and I saw a small video screen in it with a moving image. Some woman apparently talking. So I am guessing some sort of SHockwave or (what's the other one, Java?) trying to load in some video play thing.

So is anyone else encountering this? Or is it just my computer has a missing or damaged file the thing needs to run the ads?

You may want to try an ad blocker.
    One for firefox.
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...ublock-origin/
    Another for Chrome.

I use the linux version with firefox, and it works great.

Hey Enzo try this simple change to your Chrome settings.
    https://www.cnet.com/how-to/how-to-s...he-background/

You could even un-check the "use hardware acceleration when available" option right there too and see if it makes any difference. I have read about some problems with Chrome where this happens and then people claim that hitting the Windows icon a few times on their keyboard got typing to work again. Seems like there is a common bug where the focus of the input method gets a hiccup or something. I read on a forum thread where the above mentioned changes fixed the typing issue you described. If it does not fix the issue then at least it is a simple change in the browser to put it back the way it was.

The Chrome settings made no difference, and so far I haven't figured oput the ad blocker, still working on that.

For now, when I get to a page I just scroll top and bottom page and X out the black banner ad.
