Fender Champ 25 Se - anyone with experience with these?

I found what i thought was a great deal on this amp ... it reminded me of a "super champ" ... it's a Champ 25Se . 2 6L6's for power tubes ... i think the preamp must be solid state. Anyway it just doesn't seem to be putting out much sound! It's as loud on 9 as my Peavey Classic 30 is on 5 ! I replaced the cheap feeling speaker with an older Celestion a friend gave me. Anyone have any experience with these amps? Is it just underpowered, or is there something i can do to make it sound like it really has 25 watts ?

New to this forum. Yes, I know this is an old thread. Just bought a Champ 25SE two days ago. So far, rather impressed. I am comparing it to a "Vintage Modern" Super Champ XD with a Ragin Cajun 10" speaker upgrade, and a '75 SF Deluxe Reverb. Comparisons I have made so far are:
C25- SS pre/tube power, 25 watts.
SCXD- SS/pre/tube power, 18 watts.
SF DR- all tube (including rectifier), 20 watts.

Things I like about the Champ 25: Good power for it's size, only of the three with effects loop, reasonable size, no worries about damaging a vintage amp.

Things I am, so far, not totally pleased about: Cab styling sorta goofy- they shouldda gone with the vintage cab style, dirt channel entirely too dirty and thus nearly worthless, some weird compression on notes played on the G string up to about 5th fret- but this is perhaps only happening when played with my Digitech RP-7 (but does not go away when I hit the by-pass buttons on the RP-7.) Going to test the tubes to see if that's the cause- they could be original, which would make them about 15 years old. If yes, I may change the speaker, if no, I may sell the amp. Got it cheap enough I can easily spring for a tube or three.
