Peavey Classic Head

Hello everyone,

I have a Peavey Classic - VT Series/Series 100 amplifier. This is a separate 50 watt head that looks like its from the 1980s or early 1990s. It has a built in phase shifter.

I have not been able to turn the phase shifter off. The best I can do is turn the color and speed down but you can still hear it.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Thanks,
David

Footswitch?

My MX, VTX series, (also Peavey) has a DIN plug on back for the footswitch, I found which two pins switch the clean/distortion channels and put a paper clip jumper in to just keep it on clean channel. That's usually all I use onstage, so it works fine. I wired up a footswitch too, but rarely use it. I wouldn't think the phase would be always on, no matter what, but the footswitch might make a difference, or the contacts if you don't have one.

Does the switch on the rate pot kill it? If not, the 604 IC for the phaser is likely shot. U13. SWap it with the one for reverb, U16. if this fixes it, then you know. That would likely leave the reverb on all the time, but that is easy to turn down.

Can't turn off the phase shifter

Gents,

Thanks again for your help.

It turns out that I was not turning the rate switch all the way off until it clicks off!

Simple mistake.

Thanks
