I think that would be a very worthwhile feature to restore. I would be especially useful for new members making their first posts because they would be alerted that responses were available without the need to keep checking back in. It would encourage new people to become active members.
It seems to be somewhat random or only for certain things? Every once in awhile, someone will respond to a long dead thread, and the OP will reply even though they haven't been around for a year or many years. You know they had to have received an email notification.

There has been a low level spam attack on that site in the past month or so. Probably just some kid from his basement bedroom. Usually just two or three spam messages a day that as a moderator I can delete. This looks more serious.

I'm still getting the error, even on a new window. Will check with a different computer, different ISP.

I'm a moderator there for one of the pages but I couldn't figure out how to delete the spam.
I'm getting a database error when I try to login also.
I tried again with a different computer on my library's wifi and got the same error.

My thinking is that the directory where all the posts I deleted ended up is full, generating the error.

Also I propose to edit the line to something like:
"New month. We are at $ xx this month in donations. Monthly/annual forum maintenance expenses are at xxx.
Please consider a donation if this forum helped you. Help keeping this forum alive!"
Things have been pretty tight. Plus my wifes debt card got hacked and my account drained. All restored now with the exception that I have to get my bank to reverse the servive charges for NSF transactions that were not my fault or doing
But mostly straightened out at this point. I pledged $20 a month and I'm putting it in now.
AAAaand... Done.

FWIW I did mention the idea of a monthly pledge to any other members when I started this myself in October. twenty bucks won't buy much but I'd hoped for more participation in the idea. My Jackson won't always be on the first of the month. I never know how it's going to roll out. Who would have thought they'd be 56 years old chasing paychecks. On the other hand I do have a decent lifestyle. Even if there's not much security in it. That said... I made a PLEDGE and I hope others will too. $20 a month is 66 cents a day. Think of it this way guys,.. At those times when the forum has been down and you're chomping at the bit would you shell out 66 cents to have it back on line for the day? And wouldn't you do this every day? It was an easy decision for me.
