Dateline tracking the I.D. Thieves

Well I just watched Chris Hanson speaking to some Nigerian they had tracked from the Identity theft here in the USA and when speaking to this guy he wanted to scam Chris out on 200K. Chris called his bluff and exposed him but what happens then?

Now, ID theft is rampant coming out of other countries and into ours and not much done about it, and then Dateline exposes these A-holes and what happens? The Nigerian walks way free after talking about having 6.5 mill in a bank account. Of course if its even true.

Now these thieves know someone is on to them so they say were moving operations to Iran. I say if they do, cut Iran off from the Internet. Yeah, I know that crude but who knows maybe a good thing!

I have known a few folks who the ID theft thing has happened to them and it’s a bad thing as it screws up your life. Ruins your credit and causes stress you just do not need. You all know the drill....

I know its not a perfect world but, DAMN... why don't our superior elite law enforcement get these bad guys. Its not rocket science. Heck, I have tracked hackers from my old job (network tech) when they were trying to get into our network and it is hard, but not that hard. Unless they bounce from someone else’s PC somewhere out in cyberspace. Then it isn't so easy.

In saying that if laws were passed to put more trackable identity into NIC cards and modems and such instead of just having a MAC address, and then also holding more internet providers with accountability this would be more possible.

I say, tougher laws on Capital hill on these crimes but will congress pass these tougher laws instead some of the odd or ridiculous laws they try to pass?

That’s the question. ~?~?~?~?~?~

If one of you out there could come up with a fool proof way to stop I.D. theft you could become a millionare, any suggestions???

My rant

You could always keep a couple of spare identities handy for when someone steals your main one.

Congress can pass all the bills they want, but they have no influence or authority over a foreign, sovereign nation. And if Nigeria or Iran don't have an extradition treaty with the US, there is little to no chance that even if the FBI catches someone breaking US law, the criminal will be brought to justice.

It's a loophole that bad guys know how to exploit. And I would count on any help from the international community. This loophole will persist until the credit lenders determine it is in their collective best interests to fix this problem.

Someone got a hold of my wife's SS# and opened up a credit card. How they were able to do it with our credit situation at that time is beyond me. But if you have to try and get it of your credit, my prayers are with you. Its a pain in the rear. I dont understand greed and probably never will. I know these people will get theirs in the end. I just dont know how they can sleep at night. It seems as most of the world lives by the something for nothing mentality. I say God Bless em, their going to need it.
