    Forum Malfunction

I'm having a frustrating problem with the forum lately. In a multipage topic I sometimes can't open the other pages.
If I click on page 2 or 3 or 4 etc. it reloads page 1. Sometime everything works correctly when I'm not logged in,
and then when I log in it doesn't. And vice-versa. If I clear my cache and browser history sometime that fixes it,
sometimes not. I always check that I'm in linear mode. Any ideas?

Have you tried changing the thread display to linear mode, at the top right of the thread?
That fixes most problems on large threads.

I'll try opening in a new tab next time it happens. The frustrating thing is that it's unpredictable.
I'm using Firefox 48.0 with Vista. Maybe that's the problem.

52.4.0 ESR is the newest you can get with Vista, as they aren't really supporting Vista anymore.
That's what I'm on, but I never had any issues back when 48.0 was current.
Hopefully the tab thing will at least give you a workaround.

I had to go back to 48.0 because I couldn't print a webpage properly with newer versions. I use print-to-PDF often to save interesting info.

I use the UnMHT add-on for saving web pages. Not sure if it's better or worse than pdf though.

Opening in a new tab doesn't work. Strange thing is when I'm in "printable version" I can access all pages no problem except there are no photos.
Eventually I will upgrade to Ubuntu. Changing computers is a major ordeal I like to avoid what with setting up and tweaking all the programs.

I've seen problems where the forum fails to respond to clicks, on both Chrome and Firefox for linux. My impression was that it was due to packet latency and/or server latency, not a userspace issue. I haven't had the same problem occur on any other sites, it seems to be an MEF-specific problem. I've also seen this forum become non-responsive for hours on end over the past weeks. Many times, in fact. There are many issues that could cause these symptoms, making a diagnosis hard to nail down.

Inappropriate responses to clicks, like loading the wrong page are not difficult to diagnose. those would be caused by a php script execution error on the server. Nothing you can do about it at your end.

my experiences don't lead to a specific diagnosis, but your php errors are conclusive that it's a server issue. it'd be interesting to know whether the site's server is run on bare metal in a small hosting location or if it's virtualized on a large commercial server.
