        • suitable stepper motor ?

          Hi Elpro

Is this a suitable motor for the winder
          Nidec Servo KH56KM2-951
          here´s the spec sheet

          KH56K.pdf

          Thanks in advance Andrew

it changed name.... it was www.NC-STEP.de ..... i bought 3 drivers about 5 or 6 years ago .... good product and service ...

....about motor, not cheap but i think good.... i found who use it in a cnc milling machine and has rapid speed G00 of 1,8 m/min... very good for a motor with less than 1Nm torque...

                bye

Oops! Glad I asked! Luckily I didn't try to fire it up yet...
Folks, don't make this mistake at home!

                  • OK all the connections are made and the jog controls for both motors are working.
Next question: How to connect micro-switches for bobbin width setting. Do the switches connect to ground or to +5VDC.

I'm pretty excited to see the motors run...

Oh, I'm guessing that the 12VDC input on the controller board is to power the tensioner only, is that correct? I.e. not necessary for other winder operations?

                    Thanks!

I'm guessing you can't read the schematic he posted (months ago). ...

                          ciao

Hmm I tried that but the motor keeps going, shouldn't it stop? Maybe I have the switches reversed.

Brad, you should know by now that that's not how I roll, schematics are for the birds. Anyone remember what page the schematic is on?

                          • but are you saying about traverse measuring?

controller wait a signal from right push button then invert motor direction and wait a signal from left one... then stops motor and show measure.

                            • Elepro,
Traverse works now, the first switch was defective so no connection was being made.
I did a test wind and set TPL to 15 but the traverse stepper keeps slow stepping at the same rate (about 4 steps per second) and direction regardless of the spindle stepper speed (as winder speeds up). At higher turns per layer it's even slower or doesn't seem to move at all. I'm winding at default 600rpm speed with bobbin width of 12.5mm.

Are the switches still needed for winding or just for setting width?
