  • No hurry here on receiving the kit....I'm booked solid with work for the rest of the year at least. The kit will probably sit for a month before I even think about assembling it.

Let us know if you're having trouble getting some particular parts. I've got some good resources too.

      • UPDATE:

Good news, I got an email from my Mouser rep this morning, she says the parts will ship today!

The parts we are waiting on are the ultra mini trimpots and the other half of the DIP sockets. Originally we were also waiting on more 16-pin headers but Mouser disconinued that part and we resolved the issue within our group.

          The back-ordered parts are in!

The parts we were waiting on are here but I have a function tonight so I can't do anything with them, tomorrow I should be able to get everything baged-n-boxed and be able to start shipping out packages Friday and Saturday....WHEW!

It would be possible to describe everything scientifically, but it would make no sense; it would be without meaning, as if you described a Beethoven symphony as a variation of wave pressure. — Albert Einstein

            • Sweet! Double presents, these plus I'm getting some "evaluation boards" from BatchPCB some time in the next couple of days. Looks like it's perfect timing for when I have no time to work on either of them

Spy, are you back from vacation? I think you asked me to wait on your package until you were back home from holidays.

David King, are you at the Oregon address now, or still in Vermont?.

Anyone else ask me to hold their orders until a later date? it's been nearly 2 months since we started this.

Most people are probably back from their summer journeys, but it's time to let me know now if any of you are not ready accept your package at the address you gave me.

                      • UPDATE:

                        PACKAGES
In each package being mailed there will be 2 small bags as shown below, the sensitive electronics are in bag-2 and you should take care when handling the parts in that bag (except the PCB of course):
(defaced has 4 bags in his)

Be aware that static electricity discharge can kill the LCD and PIC micro-controller so take the appropriate precautions when handling those parts.

I will be bagging and boxing the rest of the parts today (Thursday) and start mailing out packages Friday and Saturday.

Yup... yesterday I came back at the dirty, noisy, burned Athens!
When you're ready with the packages you can send mine to the address I gave you.

I assume that the LCD and PIC are bedded in conductive black foam. The classic trick for getting things out of a bag alive is to breathe into the bag and wait a minute before taking stuff out. Nothing like some humidity to allow charges to equalize.

I would assemble and solder all but these two before installing LCD and PIC, to reduce handling of and thus risk to static-sensitive components.
